Around 25,000 homes in Queensland's southeast woke up without power on Monday morning after powerful weather events impacted the area, producing wind gusts reaching over 100 km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Widespread Damage
Locals observed substantial frozen pellets measuring up to 7cm in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that various areas across Queensland had been impacted by significant hail.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the damaged zones, with dozens of response units activated to address the numerous electricity disruptions.
Southern State's Storm Challenges
At the same time, approximately 1,000 energy customers in the southern state also experienced power outages after Melbourne recorded its wettest day in 18 months.
Emergency response teams received nearly 600 emergency reports across the area, mostly for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

At one point on yesterday, in excess of 28,000 power users in the state were without power.
Weather Forecast
Humid circumstances were expected to linger along large portions of Queensland's east this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with continued storm activity anticipated across different parts of both states.
Medical Alert
Public health experts cautioned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, specifically given the current weather patterns.
This caution comes after historical occurrences where similar conditions led to substantial respiratory problems in the region.
